Advice for Choosing The Best Toddler Halloween Costumes
I feel that Halloween is truly a favorite holiday for just about everyone, regardless of age. There is no age at which dressing up in a costume, whether it is cute or scary, funny or ingenious, isn’t a thrill anymore. Young toddlers, however, tend to get especially excited about dressing up at Halloween.
There are, though, some special considerations that must be made when it comes to the topic of toddler Halloween costumes. Here are some helpful tips for finding really great toddler costumes – with none of the headaches…
To start, toddler Halloween costumes are obviously different for their intended wearers than other Halloween costumes. Just the term ‘toddler’, implies that they are still working on some mobility issues. Toddlers grow up at different phases – Some are great walkers, others are still crawling, and then there are some can run down the block in a flash!
For this reason, you must consider how a costume can impact your toddler’s mobility. Toddler Halloween costumes that impede movement can be a disappointing to a toddler that has just learned how to walk. They would be frustrated not being able to move around and explore as they have been.
Toddler Halloween costumes definitely need to have easy access! Some toddlers aren’t potty trained yet. Even those that may have moved on from diapers, they are still probably not experts at zippers yet. Finding costumes that can allow for easy access for a quick bathroom break or a needed diaper change is nearly worth the money alone. I don’t think there is no quicker path to a miserable Halloween than a toddler costume with a complicated and time-intensive process needed to take it on and off.
When it comes to what the toddler Halloween costumes should actually look like, that’s entirely up to your personal choice. All toddlers are, by nature, exceedingly cute so whatever costume you decide to put them in will, almost certainly, look really great.
Just remember, though, that this may be one of very few golden opportunities you might have to dress up your child in an outfit that is not of their choosing! As they get older, they develop a definite opinion of what they think is a cool costume.
However you choose, take the appropriate practical steps to have a very happy Halloween and have fun choosing your toddler Halloween costumes, and enjoy this precious age.
When you start looking, you will realize that you are spoilt for choice – you might find it hard to choose out of all the cute cowboy and cowgirl, pirates and pirate girl costumes and then then don’t forget all the different Disney character outfits and the cute animal ones!
Oh, and don’t forget to take lots of photos for your family album, they’re only toddlers for such a short time and you want to be able to remember how adorable and cute they looked in their toddler costume!

Halloween Party Favors That Kids Will Love! – Make Your Kid’s Halloween Party Really Memorable.
Halloween is probably, without a doubt, one of the most favorite of kid’s holidays, and the reason is pretty obvious – the candy! Not only do they get to dress up in their favorite character costume, or one of this year’s trendy popular boy or girl Halloween costumes, or a scary kids costume, but they have the added bonus of going out in the evening trick-or-treating. They get the thrill of checking out all the lights and Halloween decorations, and knocking at every door to collect treats. Most kids do like candy (no surprise there!) and this is one day of the year that they get to indulge in these Halloween treats.
When you host a Halloween party for kids, it is a lot of fun for them and certainly heightens their excitement. They can’t wait for the sun to go down so they can get down to the serious business of trick-or-treating. The Halloween party food doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be simple. For example, for a group of 8 kids, a couple of different types of pizzas will be enough to get some ‘proper’ food into their stomachs before they start on the candy. Another suggestion would be to broil a bunch of hot dogs and lay out warm buns, along with green relish, mustard and ketchup. If you want to give them something a little different, you could also serve them a hearty bowl of chili, with grated cheese, and some buttered buns.
As soon as they have all eaten then they’re good to go! There’s only one thing left to complete the festivities (besides collecting their treats), and that’s the Halloween party favors!
I’ve got some great ideas that make easy and inexpensive Halloween party favors…
You’ll need a package of white paper lunch bags and some markers. Then draw a simple design on the lower two-thirds of the bag. Examples could be a Jack o’ Lantern, a witch flying on a broomstick, or some creepy spiders (you leave the top third of the bag undecorated to allow for folding the bag closed). Then write each kid’s name below
the design. If you don’t like drawing you, you could decorate the bags with Halloween stickers.
Now you need to decide what to put in the bags. Some things I came up with are…
- Some rubbery creepy-crawlies are a great idea. Girls will shriek and boys will put them on their sister’s pillow – universally enjoyed!
- Most kids love stickers. Putting a package of Halloween stickers is a good start.
- Your local dollar store probably has some seasonal figurines, cheap and cute, that you could add to the bag. For example, pumpkins, ghosts, witches etc these little figurines will earn a treasured spot on a bookshelf or dresser.
- Halloween coloring books.
- Halloween pencils and erasers.
- Halloween themed sunglasses and socks are other good choices.
- Vampire teeth could be another idea.
- Teen girls love some of the extreme Halloween cosmetics black, orange and red nail polish, for example.
When you have finished filling the bags, then shut the bag and secure with a bow tie of ribbon. When the kids get home, flush with a big bag of candy, you can end the evening with personalized Halloween treat bags, handed out to each child as they head for home. Your Halloween party favors will surely be the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Find Out How To Make Your Own Halloween Decorations – It’s Easy And Fun!

You’ve probably seen those homes on your neighborhood that have some really great Halloween decorations that they put up each year. Well why not join them, this year, and really dress up your home and yard – you don’t have to buy them from a store, you can make your own!
It can even be a fun activity for your whole family to get involved in, your children would probably love to help you out with making the decorations as Halloween approaches, and it will help to put you all in the Halloween mood.
There are a few basic supplies that are a must-have when you want to make your own Halloween decorations. You can easily get these things at your local craft store. The most important ones are…
- Construction paper
- Glue and/or glue sticks
- Newspaper to help protect your work surfaces
- Tape
- Markers
- Crayons
- Pencils
- Stickers of all types
- Scissors
- Styrofoam (if you want to make tombstones)
- Paints and paintbrushes
- Lettering materials whether they be stencils, stickers, or plastic.
You can add anything else you think you may want to this list or you can see what your children come up with when they look at what is available.
Some people choose a specific theme for Halloween and stick with that and decorate their homes accordingly and choose their costumes to match. For example, if your theme was vampires and you dress up as Dracula or female vampires, then your decorations you should make would be bats, coffins, stakes, fangs etc. However,if you decided your theme this year was to be pirates and you are dressing up as a pirate lass or Captain Hook, then your decorations would include such things as skull and crossbones, ships, cutlasses, parrots, eye patches, jolly roger flags, treasure chest, gold coins etc.

If you want to make a decoration a bit more adult, then you can go for things like wood and glass, and the correct type of paints you would need to cover them. Sometimes, some paints can come off the glass or wood when exposed to the weather or if they are handled too much. You can also get some type of top coat that you can use to keep your items looking nice and lasting longer so you will have them for many more years to come.
It may also be a good idea to consider getting some waterproofing material to apply to your decorations if you know something is going to be used outside and will have to endure weather conditions like rain, snow, and wind. You can ask at your local hardware store as to which product would be the best to use.
For interior Halloween decorations just think about what Halloween means to you. Some of the best types of decorations are ones that will be spooky but don’t actually outright freak someone out. You can get all types of spider webs very cheaply and they will look great, and really add to the Halloween atmosphere. You can stretch out and drape the spider webs wherever you want in your home and then make or buy spiders to add to the webs. Nowadays, you can even find web that works outside and is resistant to all kinds of weather conditions.
If you find that you are having trouble coming up with ideas to make your own Halloween decorations, or you are running short on time and you have only got some of the ones you had planned to make, completed, then you can always go out and buy what else you need. Look at online Halloween stores for great ideas, values, and fast shipping times. Things like orange outdoor lights are great, and you can even now get purple ones as well. Sometimes you may find that you can get things cheaper if you buy more than one item, so buy try to buy something in groups if you can use all of the items they offer. Another source for great ideas for making your own Halloween decorations is to visit your local craft store a month or so before Halloween.
