Halloween Party Favors That Kids Will Love! – Make Your Kid’s Halloween Party Really Memorable.

HalloweenPartyKidsHalloween is probably, without a doubt, one of the most favorite of kid’s holidays, and the reason is pretty obvious – the candy! Not only do they get to dress up in their favorite character costume, or one of this year’s trendy popular boy or girl Halloween costumes, or a scary kids costume, but they have the added bonus of going out in the evening trick-or-treating. They get the thrill of checking out all the lights and Halloween decorations, and knocking at every door to collect treats. Most kids do like candy (no surprise there!) and this is one day of the year that they get to indulge in these Halloween treats.

When you host a Halloween party for kids, it is a lot of fun for them and certainly heightens their excitement. They can’t wait for the sun to go down so they can get down to the serious business of trick-or-treating. The Halloween party food doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be simple. For example, for a group of 8 kids, a couple of different types of pizzas will be enough to get some ‘proper’ food into their stomachs before they start on the candy. Another suggestion would be to broil a bunch of hot dogs and lay out warm buns, along with green relish, mustard and ketchup. If you want to give them something a little different, you could also serve them a hearty bowl of chili, with grated cheese, and some buttered buns.

As soon as they have all eaten then they’re good to go! There’s only one thing left to complete the festivities (besides collecting their treats), and that’s the Halloween party favors!

I’ve got some great ideas that make easy and inexpensive Halloween party favors…

You’ll need a package of white paper lunch bags and some markers. Then draw a simple design on the lower two-thirds of the bag. Examples could be a Jack o’ Lantern, a witch flying on a broomstick, or some creepy spiders (you leave the top third of the bag undecorated to allow for folding the bag closed). Then write each kid’s name below
the design. If you don’t like drawing you, you could decorate the bags with Halloween stickers.

Halloween Pencils And FovorsNow you need to decide what to put in the bags. Some things I came up with are…

  • Some rubbery creepy-crawlies are a great idea. Girls will shriek and boys will put them on their sister’s pillow – universally enjoyed!
  • Most kids love stickers. Putting a package of Halloween stickers is a good start.
  • Your local dollar store probably has some seasonal figurines, cheap and cute, that you could add to the bag. For example, pumpkins, ghosts, witches etc these little figurines will earn a treasured spot on a bookshelf or dresser.
  • Halloween coloring books.
  • Halloween pencils and erasers.
  • Halloween themed sunglasses and socks are other good choices.
  • Vampire teeth could be another idea.
  • Teen girls love some of the extreme Halloween cosmetics black, orange and red nail polish, for example.

When you have finished filling the bags, then shut the bag and secure with a bow tie of ribbon. When the kids get home, flush with a big bag of candy, you can end the evening with personalized Halloween treat bags, handed out to each child as they head for home. Your Halloween party favors will surely be the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Add Some Great Pirate Decor To Your Pirate Theme Party!

If you are planning on having a pirate party this Halloween, then to make it even more memorable you will need to decorate your home with some authentic pirate decor to make it an awesome swashbuckling soiree!

With all the amazing Halloween stores that are now available online, you are going to be spoilt for choice when it comes to pirate props and decorations. What I have done is to research some of the biggest online costume and accessory stores and came up with a list of what I thought were the coolest pirate theme party decor, and which were
quality items at an affordable price…

Peel 'N Place Wall DecorationA Peel’ n place pirate wall decoration is a great start. These can be used year after year if you are careful how you take it off the wall. The one I found, that I thought was authentic, had a rustic look of real weather-beaten wood and measured approximately 20″ wide x 11.5″ high, and said “Beware Of Pirates”. This decoration is made of plastic and will cling to just about any flat surfaces, for example, you can easily put it on walls, windows or doors.

Pirate Flag 3' x 5' PlankWhat about a pirate flag? All pirates used flags as a symbol as to which piracy group they sailed under. There’s always the typical Jolly Roger that everyone knows about, but the one I really liked was a little more unique and definitely more colorful! It is a pirate skull with crossed pirate swords are displayed in the center with the words, “Pirates Only – No Trespassing! – All Others Will Walk The Plank” written on it. It has eye-catching brilliant colors. After your pirate theme party it doesn’t have to be folded up and put away, as it would be great for a bedroom or game room too!

Pirates Bottle Of RumYou know that pirates are infamous for drinking rum, and lots of it! A pirate’s life can be tough, so it didn’t hurt to have a little something to take the edge off – a pirate’s bottle of rum! This is a great pirate prop. The one I found is a brown bottle with a red label, white skull and crossbones. It also has a blue ribbon style label featuring a red skull on the bottles neck, and a cork top. This plastic bottle adds a nice touch for pirate-y effect, either tucked into a cloth belt or used as simple decoration. It has a nice weathered look, and is really quite unique.

6' Jointed Pirate Skeleton CutoutThen finally there’s the huge life-size pirate decoration, he is perfect for your pirate party. This jointed pirate skeleton cut-out will tower over your most of your guests at a whopping 6′ high with his skeletal parrot on his shoulder. This wall hanging is one-sided and made of cardboard. Just imagine this freaky chappy hanging on your hallway wall to greet your guests as they arrived!

Then, if you liked making crafts, you could go to your local craft store and buy a few items and then you could make some of the following homemade pirate decor…

  • A treasure chest – you could make one out of a shoebox or cardboard box, or if you were extra ambitious you could make a proper life-size one out of wood!
  • Make some gold coins – cover large round cut-outs of cardboard with gold foil. Make them different sizes, coins come in all different sizes. You could add these to the treasure chest, if you made one.
  • You could bake a pirate cake or a pirate ship cake and put in the center of your table.
  • You could make some Jolly Roger flags – just draw the skull and crossbones shape onto black construction paper and then paint the drawing with white paint. You could make a few of these and then put them all over the walls around your house.

For your pirate theme party, not only could you decorate your home with the pirate decor I’ve mentioned above, but another great idea would be to have a real treasure hunt! You could make your own realistic looking pirate treasure map and think up your own treasure hunt, or you can actually buy online some already prepared treasure hunt games for all different age groups, they can be purchased for ages 5-9 years (easy), ages 10-teen (medium) and teen-adult (hard). All you then need to do is for you and all your guest to dress up in pirate costumes and female pirate costumes and you will have the best pirate party ever! Don’t forget to take lots of photos, you’ll want to remember this one!

Food And Drink Ideas For An Adult Pirate Party

If you are planning an adult pirate themed party this Halloween, then here are some great suggestions for food and drinks to serve your buccaneers and lady pirates. There’s a certain image that a pirate brings to mind… they are portrayed as strong, sexy, and have a “don’t mess with me” kind of attitude – even pirate wenches exude that same toughness, there’s that “I’m not taking any of your nonsense” atmosphere about them. To go along with these pirate images, you should choose your food and drinks accordingly…

Buccaneers Jerk Chicken:

  • 2 tsps ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsps thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tblsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps ground black pepper
  • 2 tblsps vegetable oil
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cups of chopped onions
  • 1 cup of lime juice
  • 2 habanero peppers
  • 1 large chicken (approx 5lbs), skin on, cut into 10 pieces…..

Combine everything except the chicken and the lime juice in a food processor and puree until it is smooth. Put the chicken and the lime juice into a mixing bowl and pour about 1/2 of the pureed jerk sauce over it, making sure to toss the chicken around to ensure that it is well coated in the sauce. Transfer it to a container and pour the rest of the jerk sauce on top of chicken. Then cover and put in the fridge for at least 4 hours. Then preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove the pieces of chicken out of the jerk marinade sauce and place them, skin side up, in an oven-proof casserole dish. Bake in the oven for about 45 to 55 minutes or until cooked through and the juices run clear when the chicken is pierced with a fork.

Cutlass Codfish Fritters:

  • 1 lb of cooked codfish, shredded and washed in water and lime
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp of chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 lb flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 litre milk
  • 1 tbsp creole hot pepper sauce…

Combine all the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Then slowly add the eggs, hot pepper sauce and milk. Add the cooked codfish. Now form the dough into 1 inch balls. Heat up the cooking oil in a frying pan and then spoon the balls into the frying pan and cook until golden brown – then remove and drain off well. You can serve with extra hot pepper sauce for dipping them into.

No pirate party would be complete without rum! So here are 2 recipes that include rum and would be great for your themed party. The pirate is someone who takes what they want from whoever they wish and does whatever they feel, and you can imagine that being very true with recipes like these!…

Planter’s Punch By The Pitcher:

  • 1 cup of rum
  • 1/4 cup of Southern Comfort
  • 1/4 cup almond liqueur
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup of grenadine Juice of 3 limes…

Mix all together in a pitcher and add some ice cubes. Garnish with lime slices and cherries if you wish.

Anchors Away!:

  • 1 oz spiced rum
  • 1 oz white rum
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 3 oz pineapple juice
  • Frozen strawberries (about 5 or 6 large ones)
  • 1 slice of pineapple….

Combine everything in a blender with some ice and continue blending until smooth.

For dessert, I found 2 Youtube videos that you might be interested in checking out – one is about how to make a pirate cake and the other one is about how to make a treasure chest cake.  Both of these would look great on the table at your pirate party…

Try these recipes out for your pirate party, I think you will find that they are sure to be a hit. Along with some pirate props and decorations around your house, and your guests dressing up in pirate and pirate girl costumes you’re sure to have a great Halloween party this year!
